What do I get with my account?
We have several plans for you to choose from that are cost effective and more than capable of handling all your domain hosting needs. All accounts come with many valuable features such as SSL Secure Server Access, Mail Manager System, CGI-bin, FTP access, Traffic Statistics Software, FrontPage Extensions and more. Do I have to register my domain name or do you do that for me?
Lava Hosting can register your U.S. domain names for you. For more information about this, please see our Domain Registration page. If you do choose to have Lava Hosting register your domain, you are the owner of your Domain name. Lava Hosting only acts as a registering agent and is listed as the Technical Contact.

If you do not prefer to do this, you can also register your domain name with Network Solutions or other registrar using our Domain Name Server information:

What are FrontPage extensions and do you support them?
Frontpage is a Microsoft page creation tool that requires special server extensions to function properly. We support FrontPage 2002 on all our accounts for no addtional charge.

Can I depend on fast downloading speeds when others access my site?
YES! Our servers are proudly co-located at Rackspace.com, the premeir Data Center in the U.S., featuring multiple OC12 connections with AT&T, Qwest, and Sprint. Your website is guaranteed to be online 24/7 because of these outstanding connections, combined with the data center's precision environment and uninterruptible power supplies. Public access to the data center is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, access to the data center is restricted by Biometric hand scanners to provide the tightest possible security.

Do you offer secure server space for transferring credit card information?

YES! Our servers are equipped with the latest SSL technology so your customers can safely order your products or services online! Normally, any text sent from your browser is sent as plain text. This means that a hacker could potentially intercept the inf ormation sent from your browser and read it.

By using the secure server (SSL), the information is encrypted before it is sent. It would be practically impossible for anyone to decrypt it without knowing the key. You DO NOT have to buy a security certificate to enable the secure server - you can use ours FREE of charge. We will provide you with the name of the server when your account is activated!

Can I upload pages frequently?
Each account comes with one FTP/Telnet account. You have full access to your space via FTP 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can update your site at your leisure.

What CGI scripts come already installed?
All hosting accounts comes with a hit counter, a search engine, a site creation tool, a form emailer, and a file manager. If you are interested in adding more CGI scripts to your account, you may do so. You will find a list of various CGI script collections on our Web Resources section.

What is the Account Control Panel?

What are email aliases?

Email aliases are email addresses that you make up. Any mail sent to these aliases would automatically be forwarded to your existing POP email account or redirected to another third party POP account.

What about the Traffic Statistical Software?

Traffic analysis software comes pre-installed with every web hosting account! We use Webalizer Version 2.01 and it is very easy to access.

If you already have an account with us, you can access your weekly stats by typing http://yourdomain.com/webalizer.

What about Technical Support?

We provide web hosting services to many clients and from experience we have found that handling support request via email to be to our clients greatest advantage. We answer all email on the same day it is received - most often in only a few hours.

We have setup Technical Support Pages to help you with all aspects of your web hosting account. In the event your are experiencing server difficulties outside the scope of these pages you can email Technical Support at support@lavahosting or call 800-716-5282 to speak to technical support or leave a detailed explanation of your problem and a tech will respond to your request(s) promptly.

What kind of technical support do you NOT provide?
We do not provide any technical support relating to HTML syntax, Java programming, JavaScripting, any 3rd party software, CGI programming, or CGI scripts, nor any other non-network related aspect. What types of account activities are prohibited?
We do not allow site with adult content or pornography. We also do not permit spamming or spamming related software on our system. Any accounts failing to adhere to these policies may be deactivated without warning. Please see our Acceptable Use Policies for more information.
